Camp Safety

Safety is our top priority. Our venue and activity provider, JCA, adheres to strict health and safety standards, including:

  • Full Compliance – Meets all Health & Safety requirements and holds Public Liability Insurance.
  • Verified Safety Management – Externally inspected and certified.
  • Trained Staff – All instructors are qualified, carry first-aid kits, and hold HSE Appointed Person Awards.
  • Daily Checks – Safety and equipment inspections are conducted and recorded.
  • Risk-Assessed Activities – Thorough assessments for all programs.
  • DBS-Checked Staff – All team members are background-checked.

Your well-being is our priority—we ensure a safe, fun, and supervised experience!

Supervision & Security

Your child will be supervised at all times. For their safety:

  • No Unaccompanied Leave – Children are not permitted to leave the site without staff supervision.
  • 24/7 Staff Presence – A JCA team member is always on call. Senior staff are on duty until 11pm, and porters patrol the grounds overnight (11pm–7am).
  • Secure Site – Centre doors are locked in the evening, and security barriers monitor the entrance.
  • Clear Identification – All staff wear photo ID badges and uniforms. Visitors must sign in and wear badges.

We take every measure to ensure a safe, secure, and well-monitored environment.

Visitor Policy

For the safety and security of all campers:

  • Visitors are only permitted by prior arrangement with Campuk staff.
  • Unauthorised access is not allowed to ensure a controlled and secure environment.

Are these camps restricted to a particular age group?

CampUK welcomes participants of all ages - children, teenagers, adults, families, and seniors. For safety and enjoyment:

Age Groupings: Participants will be divided into appropriate age groups for activities
Supervision Requirement: Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian
Activity Suitability: Not all activities are available or suitable for every age group
Professional Oversight: All activities are supervised by qualified staff members

We design our programs to ensure everyone has an enjoyable and age-appropriate experience while maintaining proper supervision at all times.

Is there gender segregation at CampUK?

Yes, we maintain strict gender segregation in accordance with Islamic principles while ensuring all participants can fully enjoy camp activities:
Key features:

• Separate male/female living areas

• Boys-only/girls-only activity groups

• Covered sports hall & pool with same-gender staff

• Islamic modesty observed in common spaces

Dress Code Policy

All participants must observe Islamic modest dress standards throughout the camp:

For Sisters:
• Loose, non-revealing clothing required
• Proper hijab compulsory in all mixed-gender areas
• Recommended: Long dresses/abayas or loose tops with long skirts/pants
• Swimwear: One-piece modest suits with covering garments

For Brothers:
• No sleeveless shirts/tank tops
• No shorts above the knee in mixed areas
• Prayer times: Full-length trousers and shirts required
• Swimwear: Modest knee-length shorts

General Requirements:
• All clothing must provide full coverage
• Tight or revealing clothing is prohibited
• Sports activities: Gender-segregated facilities allow for appropriate athletic wear

Note: Camp staff reserve the right to address any dress code concerns with participants. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a comfortable, Islamic environment for all attendees.

Check-In & Check-Out Schedule

ARRIVAL DAY - Thursday 17th April
Check-in opens: 12:00 noon
London coach:

  • Meet at Roe Green Park, Kingsbury: 8:00am sharp
  • Departs for Condover Hall: 8:30am

DEPARTURE DAY - Sunday 20th April
Room checkout: 12:00 pm after second activity
London coach departs Condover Hall: 2:30pm
All guests must vacate premises by: 2:30pm

Important Notes:

• No early check-in or late checkout permitted

• Please coordinate travel plans accordingly

• Allow sufficient time for packing and room inspection before checkout

Bedding:

  • Duvets, sheets, and pillows are provided
  • Optional: Personal blanket or pillow

Clothing Essentials:

  • Daily Wear: Old but clean clothing (label items with name)
  • Sleepwear: 2 pairs of pyjamas (include warm fleece for cool nights)
  • Footwear: Running/walking shoes + slippers (for bathroom/pool)
  • Socks & Underwear: Daily changes + extras
  • Tops: Heavy & light shirts (long, loose sleeves for sisters)
  • Outerwear: Warm jacket, sweatshirt, rain jacket
  • Bottoms: 2–3 long trousers/jeans + 2 athletic shorts
  • Prayer Attire: Long trousers & shirts (no tank tops)
  • Swimwear: 2 swimsuits (one-piece for sisters) + swim nappies for babies
  • Special Items: waterproof tracksuit
  • Islamic Dress: 1–2 abayas (sisters) or dishdashas (brothers)

Prayer & Hygiene:

  • Turbah (for prayers)
  • Portable water canister (for toilets)

Toiletries:

  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss
  • Soap, shampoo
  • Bath towel, pool towel, washcloth
  • Hairbrush/comb (minimal cosmetics)
  • Sunscreen, deodorant

Meals at CampUK

We provide three halal meals per day with a varied menu to suit different tastes:

⚠️ Alert staff upon arrival – we’ll brief you on meal protocols.

Can I donate to the camp?

That is very welcome and your generous support will ensure our success and progress. Any help is most appreciated especially since our goal is to provide opportunities and good support for campers who may miss out if prices rise too high.

Volunteer at Our Camp!

We’re thrilled you’re interested in joining our team! Our camp offers two flexible volunteering levels to match your availability and skills:

1️⃣ Staff-Level Volunteers

  • Help manage daily operations (scheduling, logistics, leadership).
  • Deeper involvement; ideal for those seeking responsibility.

2️⃣ General Volunteers

  • Assist with activities, supervision, and guest support.
  • Lighter duties; perfect for first-time volunteers.

Do I Need Money at Camp?

Yes, we recommend bringing a small amount of cash for:

  • Camp merchandise 
  • Vending machines & snacks (outside of provided meals)
  • Laundry machines (for longer stays)

Note:

  • Essential expenses (accommodation, meals, core activities) are already covered.
  • There are no ATMs on-site, so plan accordingly.
  • We suggest keeping money in a secure place (lockable storage available).

Is there a phone available for use at the camp?

Yes, there is a landline available for use when necessary.

Will my mobile phone work at the camp?

Mobile phone reception is limited at the facility with most phone networks.

Is there internet access available?

WiFi is available for campers at the main accommodation areas. To connect:

How many people can the camp facility accommodate?

Condover Hall can accommodate up to 500 people and this will be the size of our camp.

Can I Stay With My Friends?

We’ll do our best to accommodate roommate requests if:

  • Your group’s ages are similar (for safety and program cohesion).
  • You notify us in advance (e.g., via registration form or email).

However, assignments depend on:
✔ Total camp attendance
✔ Gender-segregated dorm layouts
✔ Age-group balancing

Important Notes:

  • No guarantees can be made due to logistical constraints.
  • We encourage embracing new connections—many campers leave with lifelong friends they met here!

Shower & Toilet Facilities

✅ All dormitory accommodation blocks include shared shower and toilet facilities.
✅ Families are allocated ensuite bathrooms (private shower/toilet in room) unless notified otherwise.

Notes:

  • Facilities are gender-segregated and cleaned regularly.
  • Bring your own toiletries (soap, shampoo, towels).
  • Consider shower shoes/flip-flops for shared spaces.

Sleeping Arrangements

✅ Every camper gets their own single bed – no need for sleeping bags!

Bedding Provided:

  • Mattress
  • Basic bedding (sheets, pillow, and blanket)

Optional Extras:
You’re welcome to bring:

  • Your own bedsheets/pillowcase (for personal comfort)
  • An extra blanket (if you tend to get cold)

What happens if it rains?

Most activities can be run in wet weather, however, if weather is extreme and activities cannot be run the Centre Manager will implement the centre’s wet weather plan.

Is previous experience necessary for some of your more specialised activities?

No previous experience is necessary. All staff are fully trained to instruct children and adults from all levels of capability to ensure enjoyment for everyone.

What time does a typical day at the camp start and end?

The day starts at 7.30am with wakeup and breakfast, and ends at 11pm with lights out. All campers in dorms will be woken for Fajr prayer. The camp program can be viewed on the program page.

Can you give a sample menu?

Breakfast:

  • Continental Option: Selection of cereals (cornflakes, bran flakes, muesli) with milk
  • Cooked Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, grilled sausages, cheese, baked beans, toast
  • Beverages: Tea, coffee, orange juice, apple juice, milk

Lunch:

  • Main: Fish fingers with new potatoes and peas
  • Alternative: Pasta station or salad bar (fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, sweetcorn)
  • Dessert: Apple pie with vanilla ice cream OR fresh fruit selection

Dinner:

  • Starter: Cream of tomato soup with bread rolls
  • Main: Roast chicken with roast potatoes and mixed seasonal vegetables
  • Alternative: Vegetable curry with rice (vegetarian option)
  • Dessert: Traditional rice pudding OR fruit salad

Notes:

  • All meals are halal
  • Vegetarian alternatives available at every meal
  • Fresh drinking water available throughout the day
  • Please notify us in advance of any special dietary requirements

Do you provide special meals if one has an allergy to certain ingredients?

Yes. Please let us know what medical requirements you have in the registration form. We will do our best to cater for your needs and if we cannot we will inform you as soon as we can.

Medical & Emergency Care Policy

Pre-Arrival Disclosure Required:

  • All participants must declare any medical conditions, allergies, or required treatments on the registration form.
  • Failure to disclose may impact our ability to provide appropriate care.

 Medication Handling:

  • Any medication (prescription or over-the-counter) must be handed to reception upon arrival in its original packaging.
  • Required details: Dosage, administration instructions (time/frequency), and storage requirements.
  • Note: Participants are not permitted to self-administer medication unless pre-authorised (e.g., asthma inhalers).

On-Site Medical Support:

  • Trained first-aid staff will be available throughout the camp.

Emergency Protocols:

  • Full records of any treatment will be documented.
  • Parents/guardians will be immediately notified in case of a real emergency.

Consent:

  • By registering, parents/guardians agree to this medical policy and authorise emergency care if needed.
